We congratulate the activists in Unison, who are Socialist Party (SP) members, having won their long running battle against their union’s bureaucracy. The vicious witch-hunt was a political attack against the left and this is a victory for all Trade Unionists who want to fight back.

We entirely agree with the comrades of the SP in Unison, who argue for the election of full time officials on a skilled workers’ wage. PCS Independent Left have consistently fought for this within our union. However, these policies have in one way or another been opposed by our leadership. We call on the comrades of the SP in PCS to join us in this fight, which is key to shifting control from the bureaucracy to the membership.
